* To all MS/HS Staff: If you are planning on donating food items for the National Veteran's Awareness Ride luncheon on Thursday, please list items you plan to bring on the donation forms posted in the staff mail room no later than end of school day on Wednesday Than you to everyone for you support!

* The Southeastern HS baseball team has advanced to the District Semi-Finals to be played this Thursday, May 23, 4:00pm at Wren Baseball Stadium on the campus of Ohio University.  SEHS will play Portsmouth HS.   
 Ticket prices are $8.00--adults and $5.00--students.  Tickets must be purchased online (OHSAA.org.)  There will be NO cash tickets available at Ohio University.

* Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team.  They defeated Oak Hill last night to claim a Sectional title. 

* Good luck to the boys and girls track team, they will be participating in District Finals tonight @ Nelsonville-York.

*The Performing Arts Department will be hosting their awards ceremony for theatre on Monday, May 20th at 6:00pm in the cafetorium. Those in attendance are encouraged to bring a dozen or two of cookies or other small treats to participate in a Cookie Swap! Join us in a celebration of the 2023-2024 Season!

*The Southeastern Economics class is selling remaining T-shirts and Crewnecks during lunch and out of Mr. Davisson’s room. T Shirts are currently 1 for 12 or 2 for 20. Crewnecks are 25.

*The High School Bible Study will be held in Mr. Marks' Art room during lunch today.

*Friday MADE Field Day Info --- 

The powder puff games will begin at 9 am. We will pull students participating at 8:30 am to head to the football field and then the rest of the high school no later than 8:45 am. The games will be a rolling start with short warm up times in between. 

Following the games, we will have a cookout for all students and HS staff. 

Once lunch is over, we will all head back into the gym for King of the Courts. 

I have attached the Staff Field Day sign-up sheet for the morning powder puff games/cookout. Staff members that are not listed due to having conflicting time schedules with middle school are still asked to help monitor students near the bleachers during the normal times that you teach HS students.

For the afternoon, while we are in the gym for King of the Courts, there are no assigned roles but we ask that teachers hangout in the gym to help with student behavior.

Reminder: Students are not to be leaving the football field to go to the cars or back in the school unless given special permission from Mr. Ruckel.

* There is a Key Club meeting today during lunch in Mrs. Anderson's classroom.

* This is a reminder that the SEnior Breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 9, starting at 8 a.m. in the cafetorium.  Also during this time, Vinton County National Bank will be here to set up each graduating senior with a $50 savings account.  You will need to know your Social Security Number and have a valid I.D. in order to do this.  Please see the attachment, which is a copy of a letter that was sent home last month.

* High School football players need to bring their interim reports by Coach Blair's classroom today after testing is over.

* All Juniors and Seniors need to bring their signed Prom Promise cards to the North Courtyard today at lunch for a free cookout and a drawing for some gift cards!

* Friday, May 10th there will be a MADE Sponsored field day. There will be Powder Puff games, cookout, and King of the Courts games.  Must be a MADE member to participate but all students are able to watch and enjoy the cookout.  Sign up with Ms. Dresbach.

*The boys track team finished 8th at the Vinton County Invitational last night:
Scoring for the Panthers:
Britton Ford with a 2nd place in the discus and 8th place in the shot put.
Gage Renison with a 2nd place in the 800m run
Grayson Roberts with a 4th place in the 3200m run and a 6th place in the 1600m run
Daniel Morgan with a 6th place in the high jump.
Carter Fisher with a 7th place in the long  jump.
Braydon Dickson with an 8th place in the 400m dash.
Craig Branham with an 8th place tie in the high jump.
The 4x200m relay team of Braydon Dickson, Carter Fisher, Daniel Morgan, and Eli Ramey finished 3rd.
The 4x800m relay team of Gage Renison, Daniel Morgan, Carson Stepp, and Grayson Roberts finished 5th.
The 4x100m relay team of Eli Ramey, Jake Wireman, Luke Jones, and Carter Fisher finished 7th.

Also, at Tuesday's meet at Jackson, Jake Wireman placed 5th in the 110m hurdles and Grayson Roberts placed 6th in the 3200m run. Craig Branham was 4th in the high jump and Carter Fisher was 6th in the high jump.

*Congratulations to the Southeastern High School Symphonic Band on receiving an Excellent Rating at OMEA State Large Group Contest last Friday! Everyone should be extremely proud of the band’s performance and how well the band represented our school and community at the state level. A special congratulations to our band Seniors Wyatt Atkinson, Andrew Davis, and Trenton Pickell for their outstanding leadership tonight. Congratulations to all band members on a great performance at our first state appearance!

*The Southeastern Performing Arts Department will be presenting their final show of the season on Saturday, April 20th! "Mystery at Shady Acres" is a lighthearted ’whodunit' with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing!  

We are in need of volunteers to help with the event!  Below is a link to our help sign-up, and we would appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide!  We are in need of meal prep and serving, venue set up, ticket takers, and desserts for our Dessert Auction.  Any volunteers are encouraged to attend our final dress rehearsals on Thursday, April 18th between 4:30 and 8:00 to experience the show and help out the actors in their crowd interactions!

*Prom Permission forms will be collected during High School Lunch.  Ms. Cox and Ms.Mitten will pick them up. Any student who needs a signature from me, (Guest form bringing another that isn't a Southeastern Student, I will be down in the small gym to sign.  We want to just speed this up if we can.  We want to designate lunch as the time we do all the prom stuff and other activities if we can.   Please do not let them out of the classroom to go deliver prom forms, go to the office, etc.

The General Livestock team placed 41st out of  191 Teams. There were 1041 individuals that competed, Hudson Drake placed 19th, Levi Ginter placed 267th, Parker Whittington 387th, Chloe Wills 441st, Addyson Stewart 451st, Layne Baxter 657th, and Emily Simpson 830th.

* The Equine Management Team placed 53rd out of 107 teams.  There were 337 individuals that completed, Karlie Peters ranked 136th,Seth Walker placed 178th, Blain Yates placed 259th, and Quade Park ranked 308th.

* Congratulations to the first year Southeastern-Ross FFA members who competed in the Greenhand Quiz Career Development Event. This event tests student's knowledge of the history and structure of the FFA. There were 173 FFA Chapters that competed in this event, and Southeastern placed 9th. There were over 3400 students that competed across the state! Kolten Thompson placed 25th, Addy Stewart -94th, Ben Detty - 101st, and Gracie Brown 147! These students earned a Top 10 plaque from the Ohio FFA Congratulations!

* Last Friday the High School Symphonic Band received a state qualifying Superior Rating at the OMEA District Large Group contest. The band will advance to the state band contest for the first time in school history on Friday, April 19th.

*The boys and girls indoor track teams finished their season this past weekend at the Logan High School Southeast District Championships.  Competing for the Panthers were:
Leila Keiser with a personal best in the 60m dash and the 200m dash (9th place finish)
Gabby Bunke with a season best in the shot put and a 7th place finish in weight throw.
Khloe Lott in the shot put and an 8th place finish in weight throw.
Braydon Dickson with a personal best in the long jump placing 5th
Landon Dreitzler with a personal best in the 60m dash
Mason Cyrus with a personal best in the 60m dash
Craig Branham with a personal best in the 60m dash and a 5th place finish in high jump
Grayson Roberts with a personal best in the 1600m run.
Gage Rennison with a personal best in the 1600m run and placed 9th in the 800m run.
Britton Ford with a personal best in the shot put placing 9th and 7th place in the weight throw.
Kellen Kitchen placed 9th in the weight throw
Austin Lhamon participated in the shot put.

*Mandatory outdoor boys track practice will begin on Monday 2/26 starting with a meeting in Mr. Grim's room after school that day.

*The Southeastern Performing Arts Department will be traveling to the State Theatre Conference on Friday, March 22nd through Sunday March 24th. Students and chaperones on the trip will have the opportunity to attend theatre workshops and performances put on by theatre professionals and students from across the state! Any high school student interested in going on the trip should see Mrs. Adelsperger Tuesday or Wednesday to pick up information about the trip! Spots are limited so do not wait!

* Tonight: Boys Basketball at Home vs Paint Valley. That will be Senior Night.

* Boys Basketball will be back in action for their tournament game Monday night February 19th against Adena at Adena. That game tips off at 7pm. tickets can be purchased online at the OHSAA website. 

* Juniors, on Tuesday, you will have Pizza for lunch and you will report to the small gym to begin your scheduling for next year.  

* The new attendance initiative here at Southeastern High School.  Attendance percentages are being tallied every day and week until May 3. The grade level who has the overall best attendance rate will be awarded a two class period pizza party. In order to attend this party for your grade level, you must have an attendance rate of 90% or higher to be included with your grade. This will be decided after May 3rd.

Every Friday leading up to May 3, two students in grades 9-12 will have the chance to win various prizes if your attendance rate is 93% or above. This drawing will begin on Friday, February 23. So, come to school and have a chance to win prizes.

* SE will be hosting a College Credit Plus and Dual Credit night on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:00 PM in the library computer lab. Interested students should plan to attend with a parent of guardian. 

* The High School Quiz Bowl team will report to the Art Room at 2:50 today and board the bus for our scrimmage against Huntington. 

* The FFA has been taking part in a lot of Career Development Events recently:
Addyson Stewart, Daniel Morgan, and Ally Fisher all competed with the Sub District Job Interview Contest a few weeks ago. Daniel and Ally both placed 3rd at the sub-district contest. Addyson placed 1st at the sub­district, and advanced to the district competition where she placed 4th overall. Congratulations to these FFA Members.

The Animal Management Team placed 42nd out of 83 teams at the state competition. This contest involves getting more familiar with the types of companion animals that people are likely to have. Chloe Wills was first on the team, Kiara Maldonado 2nd, Addy Stewart 3rd, Blain Yates 4th, Quade Park 5th, and Emily Simpson 6th. Congratulations to these FFA Members.

The Ag Tech and Mechanical Systems COE team placed 42 out of 57 teams at the state contest. This competition tests students' knowledge of technology liable to be encountered on the farm, and how to solve problems relating to that technology. The team consisted of Layne Baxter first on the team, Quade Park 2nd, Blain Yates, 3rd, and Ben Detty 4th. Congratulations to these FFA Members as well.

* Congratulations to Karlie Peters and Grayson Roberts for their great performances this weekend at the Division 3 Cross Country Regionals held at Pickerington North.  
Karlie finished 63rd out of 154 runners with a time of 21:42. Grayson finished 75th out of 141 runners with a time of 18:18. Congratulations to both of you on an outstanding season!

* Congratulations to the SE Marching Panthers for receiving an overall Excellent rating at the OMEA Lancaster competition last Saturday. The Marching Panthers Indoor Concert will be held this Tuesday, October 24th @ 7:00 PM in the cafetorium.  Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. 

* The SE Middle School Cross Country competed yesterday at the OHSAA 7th and 8th grade invitational at Fortress Obetz. Jacob Bunke placed 102nd in his race.  

* SE High School Cross Country competed Saturday in the Division 3 District Met at the University of Rio Grande. Emma Slatton placed 47th and Addyson Stewart placed 71st with a new personal best time of 27:26. Gage Renison finished 48th and Cole Leasure finished 92nd.  
Advancing to the Division 3 Regional Meet this Saturday at Pickerington North High School is Grayson Roberts with a 19th place and Karlie Peters with a 15th place finish.  Congratulations to these two runners and to the entire team for a very successful season!

In the high school girls race, Addyson Stewart finished 31st. Karlie Peters finished 10th, earning her All-SVC honors. In the high school boys race, Gage Renison finished 22nd and Cole Leasure finished 42nd. Grayson Roberts finished 4th,also earning All SVC honors Southeastern competes at the District 3 meet at Rio Grande.
